Terms and how we work
Last updated 5 October 2026
The short version: we start with a conversation, then you get a written proposal that you agree to before any work starts. You pay half up front and half when you approve the finished work, after two free rounds of changes. Every ongoing cost is listed in that proposal, and you can cancel ongoing costs at any time. We explain how whatever we set up for you works, in plain English.
These terms explain how Drill Bit Digital (ABN 79 873 284 120) works with clients, and the terms of using this website. When you engage us, you'll also receive a written proposal and client agreement. If anything in your agreement differs from this page, your agreement applies.
Free quote check
- You can send us a quote, report or invoice you've been given by another business, and we'll explain it in plain English. There is no charge and no obligation to use us for anything.
- What we tell you is our honest explanation and opinion, based only on what you show us. It is general information, not legal, financial or accounting advice.
- We keep what you send us private. See our privacy policy.
Proposals
- It starts with a conversation, face to face or by video call, about your business and what you need. That conversation is free.
- We don't publish set prices, because every business is different.
- You then get a written proposal setting out what's included, the price, every ongoing cost and the timeline. Work starts only once you've agreed to it.
- You can accept all of a proposal or only part of it. The choice is yours.
- Proposals are valid for 30 days.
- Anything outside the proposal is priced separately and agreed with you before we do it, never added afterwards.
Payment
- Build work: 50% when you accept the proposal, 50% when you approve the finished work.
- Ongoing costs: billed monthly in advance, starting when your website or system goes live.
- Invoices are due within 7 days. If an ongoing cost stays unpaid for 30 days, we may pause the services it covers after letting you know.
Timing
- Websites go live within 7 days of us receiving your completed content (your services, photos and details).
- Back-office systems and apps have a timeline set out in your proposal.
- If we're waiting on something from you, the clock pauses until we have it.
- Apps are published through Apple's App Store processes, which can add time outside our control.
Ongoing costs
- Some work has costs that continue after it's built: hosting, security, backups, updates and support, and the services that run in the background, such as review requests and missed-call text-back.
- Every ongoing cost is listed in your proposal, with what it covers, before you agree to anything. There are no ongoing costs you weren't told about at the start.
- You can cancel an ongoing cost at any time by telling us. It stops at the end of the month you've already paid for, and we'll tell you beforehand what will stop working when it does.
Paid advertising
- If we run paid advertising for you (such as Google, Facebook or Instagram ads), we plan it with you first. Our fee, your advertising budget and who holds the advertising account are all agreed with you before any ads run.
- Your proposal shows our fee and your advertising budget as separate amounts, so you can see what goes to the advertising platform and what goes to us.
- You get a plain-English report of what was spent and what it brought in.
- We can't promise a set number of calls or jobs from advertising. Results depend on things outside our control, such as your competitors, the season and the platforms themselves.
- You can pause or stop your advertising at any time. Money already spent with the advertising platform can't be refunded by us.
Changes
- When the work is finished we hand it to you to review. Your build includes two free rounds of changes before you approve it and before the final payment is due.
- Further changes after those two rounds are priced and agreed with you first.
- Changes after launch, such as new pages or features, are priced and agreed with you first.
- Support for back-office systems and apps, including response times, is set out in your agreement.
Who holds what
- Your content (words, photos, logos and business information) stays yours.
- Your customer data in any system we build belongs to your business. See our privacy policy.
- The website, system or app itself. Who holds the web address, the website files and the software behind them depends on the solution we land on. Your proposal spells this out in plain English before you agree, and you can ask us to explain how any part of it works at any time.
Your part
- Send us accurate information and content, on time.
- Only send us photos, logos and text you have the right to use.
- Check the finished work before you approve it.
- You're responsible for the claims your business makes, such as licences, prices and guarantees.
Leaving
You can stop working with us at any time. When you leave, we hand over your content and your customer data in a usable format. What happens to the website, system or app is as set out in your proposal, and we'll walk you through it before anything is switched off.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
